Caroline Villard

Caroline Villard

Caroline Villard was born in Stockholm, and wanted to be Walt Disney when she grew up. Her work, which has been sold at Colette in Paris and at Stockholm’s National Museum (among others), blurs the distinction between art and design.

“I take the ridiculous seriously, and the serious ridiculously,” says Villard. Her whimsical productions include a bed based on a dream about falling asleep in a lump of dough, a collaboration with the bed manufacturer Dux/Duxiana, an umbrella based on a hunting rifle and hand-made in Sweden’s oldest factory, a line of kitchen products developed specifically for small apartments and some jewelry including a necklace which replaces pearls with tiny porcelain teeth.
